Search Guide
Clarifo's search combines AI-powered semantic understanding with precise Keyword search across financial statements. Here's how to make the most of both.
How Semantic Search (Analysis Mode) Works
In Analysis mode, Clarifo understands the meaning of your question instead of matching keywords literally. You can ask in natural language, and the AI finds semantically relevant passages and synthesizes an answer from them — even if the exact words don't match.
Example: Searching for 'company profitability trends' will also find results about 'operating margin improvements' and 'net income growth'.
How Keyword Search Works
When you want raw matches without AI interpretation, switch from Analysis mode to Keyword mode above the search bar. It lists filing passages that contain your search term as-is — no LLM analysis, no synthesized answer. Narrow results by document type (all, annual reports, interim reports) and click a result to open the original PDF at the right page.
Tip: wrap a phrase in quotes, e.g. "free cash flow", to rank chunks containing that exact phrase highest — chunks that only contain the individual words still show up, just lower in the list.
Using Filters
Narrow your search results by company, year, report type, or topic. Filters help you focus on exactly the data you need and reduce noise in results.
Search Tips
Get better results with these tips:
- 1.Be specific — 'Nokia revenue 2024' works better than just 'revenue'.
- 2.Ask complete questions — 'What risks does the company mention?' gives more relevant results than 'risks'.
- 3.Use Keyword mode when you need an exact term or number without AI interpretation.
- 4.Combine search with chat to explore topics in more depth.
Understanding Citations
Every answer includes citations linking back to the original source document and page number. Click on a citation to view the exact passage in the PDF viewer. This ensures full transparency and lets you verify every claim.
