MCP server

The Clarifo MCP server exposes the same Nordic + US filings dataset that powers the Data API, but as Model Context Protocol tools instead of REST endpoints. Connect it once and your AI assistant — ChatGPT, Claude Desktop, Claude on the web, Cursor, or any MCP client — can search filings, pull financials, compare companies, screen the universe, and cite every number back to a source page. In clients that support MCP Apps, results come as interactive views in the chat, and with your permission the assistant can keep the work in your Clarifo workspace: documents, notes, portfolios and Automate.

Endpoint

The server speaks streamable HTTP at a single URL:

Authentication is OAuth 2.1 — there are no clf_ keys to paste. On first connection your client opens a browser, you sign in with the same account you use on clarifo.com, and the client stores the grant. Works with any MCP client that supports OAuth.

For headless integrations that cannot run an interactive sign-in, the server also accepts a Data API key as a bearer token (Authorization: Bearer clf_...). API keys come with the Pro and Enterprise plans; see Authentication.

Connect

Claude (web & desktop)

Clarifo is in Anthropic's Connectors Directory, so no URL paste is needed:

1. Open the Clarifo listing in the directory.
2. Click Connect.
3. Sign in with your Clarifo account when the OAuth window appears.

Claude remembers the connection; Clarifo's tools then appear automatically and are called whenever your question needs data. The same link works on Claude for web, macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android — the connector is stored per-account, not per-device.

Claude Code

One command adds the server; run /mcp inside Claude Code to sign in:

Add --scope user to make it available in every project.

Config file (Cursor & others)

Cursor connects to the URL directly and runs the OAuth sign-in itself. claude_desktop_config.json only starts local servers, so use the connector above for Claude Desktop; if you need the config file anyway, the mcp-remote bridge (Node.js 18+) connects it to the hosted server:

The Claude Desktop config file is at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on macOS and %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json on Windows. Restart the client after editing the config. The first request triggers the OAuth login.

Plans & limits

MCP access is bundled with the paid plans — there is no separate signup, and normal use is not metered.

A 7-day Pro trial has a cap of 20,000 calls and includes the four tools below. A Standard trial keeps the Standard cap and does not include them.

Every plan also has a burst cap of 120 calls per minute, which stops bulk extraction and is far above what an assistant does in a conversation.

Four capabilities run Clarifo's own AI and are gated to Pro (and Team seats): document_summary, answer_reporting_standards, the narrated brief of intelligence (op="brief") and score_ceo_sentiment_for_company. Automate is Pro and owner-only, as in the web app. Everything else is available on Standard, including the other intelligence operations, saving documents and notes, and portfolios.

Writing to your workspace

The data tools only read. Eight tools write to your own Clarifo account, and only when all of these hold:

1. You turned writing on in Clarifo under Settings > Integrations. It is off by default, and turning it off later keeps what was already saved. For a clf_ key, the key itself must also allow writing.
2. You asked. The assistant writes only on a request in the conversation.
3. You approved the edits, publishing and new automations: those tools first return a preview, and the change is made only after your yes.

Nothing is deleted for good from the chat, and no tool changes billing or touches content you cannot edit in the web app. Every write is logged under Settings > Integrations > Recent writes, and an account can make up to 50 writes a day from assistants.

Views in the chat

In clients that support MCP Apps (ChatGPT and Claude), results are drawn in the conversation as interactive views:

• Charts from render_chart and Visual Story cards from generate_visual_cards, each with its source.
• The source page a citation points to, with the cited figure highlighted.
• Document preview from preview_document_update, for an edit or a publish.
• The Clarifo panel (open_in_clarifo): your portfolios, documents, a company and a source page in one place. In ChatGPT it opens beside the chat.

Clients without MCP Apps get the same results as text, a PNG chart and structured content, so answers work the same without the views.

What the AI can call

The model chooses the right tool from your question; you do not call these directly. The catalog mirrors the Data API plus several AI-native composites:

Every read tool returns page_id values; get_filing_snapshot resolves each into a viewable page render (Nordic) or a SEC EDGAR link (US) for audit-grade citations.
