Robinhood Markets, Inc.: Robinhood reported record revenue of approximately $1.4 billion in the September quarter, while diluted EPS declined 16% year over year to $0.51. The combination raises a familiar platform question: are customers using more products in a durable way, or is growth exposed to transaction volume and market prices?1
The figures behind the headline
Robinhood's September-quarter revenue increased from $1.274 billion to $1.424 billion. The increase was not uniform: transaction-based revenue grew from $730 million to $867 million, net interest revenue declined from $456 million to $415 million, and other revenue grew from $88 million to $142 million. The group grew despite weaker interest income.1
Robinhood also reported $15.7 billion in net deposits, compared with the approximately $16 billion rounded headline, and 5.2 million Gold subscribers. Net deposits reflect customer assets moving onto the platform, not revenue earned by Robinhood. The distinction is fundamental: billions of customer assets do not belong in a revenue growth bridge.1
The reported evidence
These figures refer to the October 27, 2026 financial release. Where a source distinguishes GAAP and non-GAAP results, those definitions are preserved. Outlook and backlog measures have different recognition conditions from historical sales.1
| Financial metric | Reported amount |
|---|---|
| Revenue | $1.4B |
| Revenue growth | +12% |
| Diluted EPS | $0.51 |
| Net deposits | $16B |
| Robinhood Gold subscribers | 5.2M |
Net deposits are not revenue
Robinhood reported $16 billion in net deposits and 5.2 million Gold subscribers. Both indicate customer participation, but neither is recognized revenue by itself. Net deposits describe movements in customer assets, while subscription payments, interest income and trading activity enter the earnings picture through different routes.1
A growing base of customer assets may support recurring interest and subscription revenue, but the realized economics depend on funding spreads, customer activity, account mix and expenses.
Crypto activity can distort the growth narrative
The company said crypto notional trading volumes declined 38% year over year to $50 billion, even as equity and options activity improved. This illustrates why platform-level trading metrics should be broken out by asset class before drawing broad conclusions about retail investor engagement.1
Management's statement about fourteen business lines at or above $100 million in annualized revenue is useful commercial context. An annualized run rate is not the same as a full year of GAAP recognized revenue, and the operating costs of new businesses can be substantial.1
Reported growth is only one part of a financial story. Cash generation, capital requirements and the quality of earnings determine what can be sustained.
What the accounting disclosures add
Clarifo's SEC quarterly revenue history shows $1.424 billion in Q3 2026, up from $1.274 billion in Q3 2025. GAAP net income was $468 million versus $556 million in the prior-year period. Growth in the top line therefore did not generate a corresponding improvement in GAAP profitability, which also depends on expenses, compensation and product investments.1
The press release also describes a decline in cryptocurrency notional trading volume. Total transaction revenue can rise despite weakness in one asset class when equity and option volumes or monetization change. The appropriate analysis is by business line, not a one-number thesis about crypto cycles.
The limits of the comparison
Robinhood's cash flow needs special care because broker-dealer financial statements include customer balances and clearing-related movements. An operating-cash-flow spike is not always equivalent to stronger underlying earnings at a typical industrial business. Investors should read the financial statement notes alongside deposit growth, net-interest spread and fee generation.
Trading revenue, net interest revenue and other revenues sum to total net revenues. The $15.7 billion customer deposit figure is not company revenue or net income.1
GAAP net income is distinct from customer net deposits. The rise in trading revenue did not translate into higher GAAP net profit.
The financial question for the next quarter
Follow net deposits, funded-customer activity, net interest income, Gold subscriptions and asset-class trading mix. The durability of revenue matters more than one period's volume spike.
Reddit discussions helped identify why investors are debating this topic. They are not the source for financial numbers and can include mistaken claims. All reported figures above should be reconciled to the original earnings source.
To extend the work beyond one reporting period, explore historical numbers and original filing references at Robinhood Markets, Inc. on Clarifo. A defensible comparison keeps GAAP and non-GAAP measures distinct and checks whether segment definitions, acquisitions or cash-flow classifications changed.
Quarterly revenue, stock-market reaction and backlog do not establish future intrinsic value. Forecasts and analyst expectations should remain separate from reported results, especially when financing or one-off items materially affect profits.
Net deposits represent movements in client assets; they are not Robinhood's earned revenue and should not be included in a revenue-growth calculation.
